Venous thrombosis is a disease characterized by the presence of a clot in the vein which hinders the blood circulation. It may affect the deep or superficial venous system.
The diagnosis is made likewise in the consultation room by means of a Doppler ultrasound.
The treatment will be medical with blood thinners (oral or subcutaneous injection), wearing support stockings, active movement and hygienic and dietetic measures.
In rare cases, in the presence of an extrinsic compression of a vein, the clot has to be analysed and then the compression of the vein treated with an endovascular stent.
